The Oklahoma Territorial Museum and the State Capital Publishing Museum are proud to offer educational programs for classes. All monies collected are used to maintain and develop new programs to meet future needs.

Guided Tours

Oklahoma or Bust
Time Requirement: 1 Hour
Grades: K-8
Size Limit: 40 Students (10 student minimum)
Cost: $3.00 per student
This program educates grade school students on the experiences, difficulties, and choices faced by the Oklahoma pioneers. Students personally experience the disappointments and triumphs of the land run experience through a fun, fast-paced interactive board game, played by groups of up to 40 students.
Kate Barnard: In Her Own Words
Time Requirement: 1 Hour
Grades: 7-12
Size Limit: 40 Students (15 student minimum)
Cost: $3.00 per student
This interactive lecture program allows students to learn about Kate Barnard, Oklahoma's first woman elected official. Topics include Progressive Era themes such as child labor, prison reform, care for the poor, and education.
Scavenger Hunt
Time Requirement: 1 Hour
Grades: K-12
Size Limit: 70 Students
Cost: $3.00 per student
This program allows students to search exhibits looking for key historical facts and themes. After the search through the museum, discussions will take place with a docent or staff member.

Book Arts
Time Requirement: 1 ½ Hours
Grades: 3-12
Size Limit: 40 Students (10 student minimum)
Cost: $5.00
This program allows participants to produce their own book using the museum's collection of turn-of-the-century printing equipment. Students will handset type as they print the cover of their books. They will learn the decorative art of oil-based paper marbling, and how to bind a book using authentic book binding stitches. They will also have the opportunity to highlight the book with cuts from the museum's extensive collections.
Printing Demonstration
Time Requirement: 1 Hour
All Ages
Size Limit: 70 People
Cost: $3.00 per person
Attendees will have the opportunity to watch a demonstration of typesetting and printing on a turn-of-the-century Chandler-Price platen press. Each member of the group will receive a souvenir flyer printed on site to take home.
